FAQs

Harness inspection: common questions

What is harness inspection?

It's a detailed check by a competent person of full body harnesses, lanyards, energy absorbers and self-retracting lifelines, to confirm each item is safe to use or should be withdrawn.

Is harness inspection a legal requirement?

The PPE at Work Regulations and Work at Height Regulations 2005 require fall arrest equipment to be maintained and inspected. BS 8437 recommends a detailed inspection at least every 6 months, with records kept.

Which areas do you cover?

We inspect sites across the Midlands, the South West, the South East and South Wales, with pages for 103 towns and cities. Larger estates further afield can be quoted on request.

How quickly can you inspect?

Most sites can be booked within two to three weeks. Urgent inspections after an incident or an audit finding can often be arranged sooner.
